I teach bass at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and JMC Academy and privately. Over the course of my teaching career I have developed my own material to cover the needs of developing bass players. We learn our favourite songs and then discuss what makes them work from a playing perspective.
As a sideman I have toured internationally with artists such as country band Jetty Road (‘Golden Guitar’ winning Australian country music act), nationally with Aria award winning singer-songwriter Tyrone Noonan, appeared on national television with the likes of R&B star Jessica Mauboy (Australian Idol), performed musical theatre and cabaret shows with the likes of television’s Virginia Gay (Winners & Losers and All Saints).
As a featured performer I have been lucky enough to tour and perform with some of Australia’s most exciting modern jazz & fusion talents at festivals such as the Indian International Guitar Festival, the Noosa Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival and the iconic Woodford Folk Festival.
In 2011 I released my debut album ‘The Life Electric’ (available on iTunes) which I composed, produced and marketed independently. In 2013 I became a contributing writer for Bass Musician Magazine, specialising in the broader subject of music as an evolutionary phenomenon.
