INSTRUMENTAL STUDY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: BASS

Fluidity and correct and tasteful use of corresponding scales/chords during
improvisation.

Trimester 6
- At this stage of the study program, you will be required to draw upon your ability to apply conceptual and technical skills in preparing and performing a 40-minute individual showcase recital.
- For this unit students are required to demonstrate high-level technical proficiency, creativity, ensemble leadership skills, and the development of their personal playing style.
Assessment 1: Recital 100% Week: 13
1. Recital
Due: Week 13
Weighting: 100%
Learning Outcomes: a-d
Description:
You will be required to perform a 30-40 minute set in a professional venue:
- Your instrumental tutor will set specific requirements – solo work, stylistic expectations,
etc.;
- You will be required to arrange, plan, rehearse and lead the ensemble;
- You will be required to devise and co-ordinate all technical considerations;
- You will be assigned an informal performance time during Weeks 7 and 8. This
performance will form the basis for your Ensemble studies critical analysis task.
Submission Format:
You will be assigned a performance time during Week 14/15;
A panel of assessors will mark your recital;
You will be required to submit your recital set list to your tutor for approval prior to
the performance. (See MUS 411 unit).
NOTICE BOARD
TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Scheduling
Lessons are offered on a weekly basis only. Please arrive 5 minutes early for your lesson. Lessons are not extended for late arrivals. Do not arrive more than 5 minutes early. The studio may not be attended at this time.
2. Fees
The first lesson fee of every study period includes charge for the following week's lesson. All following lessons in the study period are charged at the standard rate so that each week you are actually paying for the following week's lesson. The final lesson of any study period incurs no fee, this having been paid for in the first lesson.
3. Attendance
24 hours cancellation notice is required, otherwise the lesson fee (collected the week beforewill be forfeited. If adequate cancellation time is provided the lesson will be postponed to the next allocated lesson time.
4. Discontinuing Lessons
If the student wishes to take a break from lessons or discontinue, one weeks notice is required and the final lesson incurs no fee on the day (this having been collected in the first lesson of the study period).
5. Lesson Fees
Lessons are $70 per hour, the first lesson fee is $140, which includes the first and final lesson fees of the study period.
