My name is Pat Farrell. I was born and raised here in Brisbane. I’ve been lucky enough to play bass as a professional for over twenty years. As a session musician I have performed internationally on TV and onstage with an array of awesome people. I also teach bass & theory at universities, schools and in private lessons. All this teaching helps me remember what it can feel like when you’re trying to learn bass.
Music seems so big… How do you even start to learn bass? Where do you start? Maybe you’ve already played bass for years but you still feel lost on the fretboard and in the music? Do you want to learn how music actually works? How to slap, solo and groove like a pro? Maybe you want to feel more confident jamming?
I know how you feel. Because I was there too. I remember being scared by how big music is. Let me simplify it for you.
Music is a language. Just like any language, music “works” in specific ways that can be explained, demonstrated and practiced. I can show you.
Music is Art. To play music with other people we have to learn songs, riffs, licks and all the forms of music. Let’s play music.
